Day 17: O's quarantine survival food: Bo’s supremes. We had a few hilarious moments trying to draw against google. G had his first group google hangout with classmates. Mute, mute, you have to mute!
What an amazing age it is that we can still stay connected, even if not in physical presence. There are so many tools out there to stay connected. My favorite "keep in touch with friends" connection is the Marco Polo app on the phone. Myself and my boys have had a blast with this app. My other favorite is the Zoom meetings. They all have their ups and downs but thanks to our amazing director at Preschool. She has given our teachers an amazing opportunity to see our sweet friends and continue their learning while having some normal in this not so normal world right now!
My first "teaching" class was this morning. I was sweating, I was nervous and I was worried about technology fails. It's ok. It's ok to have some nerves with getting up in front of meetings on the web, it's ok to make a mistake, and it's ok to laugh aloud when technology is giving challenges. The main thing I learned this morning was that all of that does not matter when you can get a community together and laugh with them, learn with them, read with them and dance with them. That connection this morning was what I needed and I am so glad that we have this ability to still stay connected, with whatever medium we have.
Be Kind. Be Connected. Be Safe. Be Yourself. Be....
Day 18 Continued: G had to draw a worry monster for school and O made a bee running computer. I taught my first preschool online class. I took a solo “field trip” to my parents house to pick up a ladder and got to actually talk face to face with them + 6 feet. And Owen has become an expert waffle maker!
